Pantograph Charging System Pilot Program - California

Aldridge delivered the electrical and communications infrastructure for a first-of-its-kind pantograph charging system supporting fully automated electric crane operations at the Port of LA. This pilot program represents a potential model for port electrification efforts nationwide.

The scope included multiple fast charging stations and Level 2 chargers, all installed within a fully operational automated terminal. With constant truck and rail activity on site, the project required careful planning, pre-coordinated access, and a strong focus on safety to navigate active traffic zones.

Working collaboratively with other trades and terminal operations, the Aldridge team executed the installation efficiently while maintaining strict safety and operational standards. This innovative system is designed to reduce emissions and support modernization and electrification initiatives at ports.
