Fiber Infrastructure Upgrade – Washington, DC
Aldridge, in a joint venture, is delivering a large-scale fiber-optic infrastructure upgrade for a major mass transit agency in the Washington, D.C. area. The project will enhance communications reliability across the region’s transit system by installing more than a million feet of conventional fiber and micro duct.
Work is taking place within active transit corridors and some of the most congested duct bank systems in the country. Crews are operating within narrow overnight access windows, during non-revenue while rail operations are offline. The scope also includes supporting agency-installed cable using struts and fiber trees, along with extensive cable management inside tunnels and stations.
Since the project's award in 2022, the team has managed ongoing design revisions, shifting priorities, and limited site access. The joint venture has maintained strong collaboration with the client and upheld a unified “one team” approach across the entire workforce.
Final completion is targeted for 2026.
