TOM MCLINDEN

President Emeritus

"In this industry, the work we build is only one part; the reputation we establish and the trust we earn are what truly endure. I have always believed that the relationship is bigger than the project; how we respond to challenges defines who we are as a partner and as a company."

A Foundation of Operational Expertise and Credibility

With more than 40 years of industry experience, Tom McLinden provides a leadership style rooted in the technical depth of his early career as a lineman. Joining Aldridge in 1990 as a General Foreman, Tom rose through the ranks by focusing on a steadfast commitment to excellence and building a solid reputation. This first-hand knowledge allows him to lead with a unique understanding of every operational aspect of the business, from the hands-on requirements of the craft to high-level executive strategy. After successfully establishing a new division and serving as the Executive Vice President of Business Development, Tom was named President in 2015, where he guided the firm’s significant national expansion. In 2026, he transitioned to the role of President Emeritus, continuing to serve as a vital advisor to the executive team and senior leadership as Frank Manna stepped into the role of President.

Strategic Leadership in Mega-Projects

Tom was the primary architect behind moving Aldridge into the national mega-project space, leading the pursuits for high-profile contracts like the country’s first Positive Train Control rail system and the first P3 LED Lighting Project in the United States. His approach to these massive infrastructure projects is characterized by a calm, collected demeanor and a sophisticated understanding of risk management. Tom believes that in the construction industry, how a leader responds to adversity is what distinguishes them from the competition. He applies a disciplined philosophy to operational risks, ensuring the organization is always prepared to manage challenges with minimal financial or operational repercussions, a strategy he often refers to as ensuring projects can fail safely when the unexpected occurs.

Mentorship and the Future of the Culture

Beyond his strategic contributions, Tom is recognized as a vital mentor and coach who has helped usher in the next generation of Aldridge’s executive leadership team. He prioritizes strong relationships and innovation, keeping a constant eye on future trends such as artificial intelligence and evolving technology to ensure the company remains a national leader. As the organization continues to scale, Tom is deeply committed to preserving the family-like feel of the culture and ensuring that no employee ever feels like just a number. Outside of his corporate responsibilities, he maintains a focus on personal well-being through fitness, gym training, and long-distance bike riding, often finding balance by spending time outdoors fishing.
