barren ridge energy transmission project

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power's Barren Ridge Renewable Energy Transmission Project (BRRTP) provides access to clean, renewable energy sources in the Tehachapi Mountain and Mojave Desert areas of Southern California.

Aldridge was contracted to help restore the existing cut slopes to their previous condition in order to access the site. Utilizing compacted fill slopes and installing CIDH piles, Aldridge performed the installation of CIDH piles along the access road between towers T54-1 and T54-2. This access road is approximately 1,100 FT long and there is a total of 120 CIDH piles ranging from two FT x 20 FT to four FT x 60 FT.

Given that the route was located within or directly next to designated utility corridors and transmission lines, access was challenging. There was very tight access to the site, steep slopes, rocky soil conditions, as well as the complicated logistical planning associated with concrete hauling and delivery.
