Innovation is in our DNA. Our latest creation - “the Chopper” is a custom-built conduit-cutting tool that can quickly and easily cut through conduit stub-ups, allowing for a more ergonomic work environment for our crews.
When installing prefabricated conduit stub-up racks, the portion of the conduit that is left above the finished concrete floor is purposely left long to account for any variation in the floor elevation from the specs. To meet project requirements, these conduits must be left exactly 3” above the finished floor, requiring each conduit to be cut after the floor is poured.
In order to speed up this process and allow for a more ergonomic solution, our innovators designed and built a custom conduit “Chopper” that can quickly and easily cut each conduit to the required height. The project team engaged some in-house subject matter experts to design and build a custom battery-powered conduit-cutting cart. This cart, complete with adjustable height wheels, blade guards, and a set of ape hanger handlebars allows a single employee to cut conduits safely and consistently in seconds from a standing position.
