Aldridge is Awarded the NICTD West Lake Corridor Expansion Project

Aldridge is excited to announce it has been awarded the electrical contract for the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) West Lake Corridor Expansion project. This southern branch expansion of the existing South Shore Line (SSL) will extend the commuter rail from Hammond to the Munster/Dyer area. The existing SSL currently operates both freight and passenger service between Millennium Station in Chicago and the South Bend Regional Airport.

This 8-mile new single track expansion will connect to the existing SSL at the Hammond Gateway Station. Aldridge is providing all electrical work for this mega project.

Associated work for this greenfield project will include electrical underground as well as landside work that includes installation of new traffic intersections, street lighting, new passenger stations, grade crossing warning systems, and a pump station.

Our scope of work also includes installation and integration of systems technology including SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition), Train Control, OCS (Overhead Catenary System), Traction Power, and Communications Network.

As a design-build project, there will be design and construction activities at the same time. Our subject matter experts will work closely with the design team. This team of experts has expertise in Medium Voltage, Train Control, Traction Power, Overhead Catenary, PTC (positive train control), Communications Systems, and Systems Integration.

Aldridge has a long history of providing innovative solutions for mass transit and commuter rail lines throughout the country. This project will benefit from Aldridge policies and systems like our top-notch safety program, detailed quality program, project management tools, and PreFabrication.

Revenue service is expected in Spring of 2025.
